The Piano Factory
Recently redeveloped for residential use, the Sohmer Piano Factory is a landmark building overlooking the waterfront in Astoria, Queens. This project was driven by library research and interviews with neighborhood residents and local business owners, which revealed layers of information and ephemera. Sales collateral—including a brochure made up of different papers in various sizes and textures—was developed to echo a sense of uncovering history and features piecemeal content that celebrates the building and surrounding area’s eclectic character.
